PLACEMENT OF ORV LICENSE

These rules become effective immediately after filing with the secretary of state unless adopted under section 33, 44, or 45a(9) of the administrative procedures act of 1969, 1969 PA 306, MCL 24.233, 24.244, or 24.245a.  Rules adopted under these sections become effective 7 days after filing with the secretary of state.

R 257.1691 of the Michigan Administrative Code is amended, as follows:

 

 

R 257.1691  Placement of ORV license.

  Rule 1. Before a vehicle requiring an off-road recreation vehicle license is operated, the owner shall ensure that theThe license for anthe off-road recreation vehicle shallis be permanently attached to the vehicle and shall be visibly displayed in the following manner:

  (a) For a 2-wheel vehicle, it the license mustshall be attached as provided in either of the following:centered on the exposed surface of the rear fender.

   (i) Centered on the exposed surface of the rear fender.

   (ii) Located at a visible place facing forward on a front suspension fork.

  (b) For a 3- or 4-wheel multitrack or multiwheeled vehicle, it the license mustshall be attached and visible on a flat metal surface, bumper, or plate permanently attached to the rear of the vehicle.

  (c) For an amphibious machine, or for a ground effect air-cushioned vehicle, it the license mustshall be centered on the rear thereof.
