Kellie D. Cody Jr
Kellie D. Cody Jr. earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Western Michigan University, a Masters in Social Work from the University of Michigan and a PhD. in Interdisciplinary Health Sciences from Western Michigan University. He is a Licensed Master of Social Work and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Michigan. Kellie has over 30 years’ experience in Mental Health as a clinician and administrator, including experience in residential and inpatient care. He is an Army Veteran. Prior to accepting the Ombudsman position in 2016, he served veterans for the previous 5 years linking them to the services they need, deserve and are eligible for as well as providing outpatient therapy to veterans and soldiers, specializing in veterans with PTSD. He has also taught at university level in Bachelor or Social Work, Masters of Social Work, Masters of Marriage and Family Counseling, Public Administration, Health Care Administration, and Interdisciplinary Health Departments.
Kellie comes to the ombudsman position with a passion for serving our veterans and a desire that all veterans be treated with dignity and respect and that their concerns be heard and resolved. He is committed to assisting Michigan Legislators and their Constituents to investigating and resolving Veterans’ Home Members concerns. He also provides guidance for proposed legislation and policies and procedures related to veterans’ issues in Michigan.
Corey M. Doan, Analyst for DJ Jacobetti Home for Veterans
Corey earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Grand Canyon University as well as a Master of Arts in psychology from the University of North Dakota. He deployed with the United States Army 18th MP Brigade in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom during his 5 years of active duty service. His research areas in psychology include veteran issues, PTSD, executive functioning, sexual violence, and combat morale. Currently, he is excited to ensure the success of the agency by advocating for and supporting veterans in a wide array of contexts.
